Bandai introduced the ThunderCats toy line at the 2011 New York Toy Fair, a line based on both the 2011 series and the original 1985 series .
The four inch action figure line focuses on the new ThunderCats animated series produced by Warner Bros. Animation Studio. Each of the figures in the four inch line can interact with the different vehicles and playsets using the "ThunderLynx" magnetic action feature.[1]
The six inch action figure line is also based on the new series and is catered towards the adult collector. Each figure in this line includes high detail and articulation.[2]
Finally, the eight inch Classics line includes figures with 18 points of articulation and high detail. The first two figures being Lion-O and Tygra.[3]
Role play toys include a basic, six inch Sword of Omens, a basic Claw Shield, and a Deluxe Sword of Omens. Both versions of the sword extend and swing open at the hilt, with the Deluxe Sword also featuring lights and sounds. The smaller, basic Sword can store inside the Claw Shield.
The toys were released in August 2011, following the premier of the new series.

Some of the first North America releases had promo for the show on Cartoon Network placed on the front display of packaging.

Note, 4" line saw release in North America with the assortment adjusted with is second wave. The second wave saw a mix of new molds, readjusted molds, and reprints. Some of North America wave two had included a "Exclusive Card". The UK saw a sticker covered re-release of the North America releases for both waves one and two. A third release of the toys was done for Europe with new cards in multilingual text, consisting of all seven wave one only. Sunny Brinquedos had also released and in some cases manufactured for the line. They had released the first wave and for second wave, many with odd minimalist color design.
