The Tech Stone is one of the four ancient Power Stones previously under the control of Mumm-Ra before his defeat. The stone has the ability to improve technology, power machines, produce antigravity and equip its user with powerful armor.

After Mumm-Ra's enslaved races overthrew him, they divided up the power stones amongst the races. The Tech Stone was given to the Bird race and with it they were able to overcome the fear of technology the animal races had, using it to further their society to advanced levels and use the stone as a power source for their city Avista. However, through a calculated scheme, Mumm-Ra regains the Tech Stone.
