Achievement Malfunction
Edit
Hi, I just created the Conquedor page. But, when I added it to the Characters (2011 series) category, I didn't get the badge for adding to a category, and it isn't on my count. Is something wrong? Alockwood1 21:51, November 10, 2011 (UTC)
i messaged devilmanozzy about picture specifications for this wikia and he told me to ask you. i basically wanna know the best dimensions for character pics in px and the preferred format PNG or JPG.
thanks
Wardialer7218 14:15, November 12, 2011 (UTC)
- I believe that you have to add the images to actually articles too, one by one. Also, every image you uploaded will be used on a article right?! I see a lot of images, but no pages they are on. I delete images that are not being used. Devilmanozzy (Talk Page) 22:37, November 12, 2011 (UTC)
picture format
Edit
we typically dont go above 250px and the preferred form I think is JPG, although I suppose any of the compatible formats are allowed. There are not too many rules concerning images, but I do not think we typically use full body images for infoboxes for the characters. ralok 14:30, November 12, 2011 (UTC)
- Jpgs are good, but I use pngs. It is fine whatever you pick. Image sizes are not a big deal as wikia makes thumbnails of each anyways. Devilmanozzy (Talk Page) 22:22, November 12, 2011 (UTC)

what's your take on posting screen caps w/ watermarks?
i personally don't like them, and don't like advertising on someone else's work. that's why i don't include any on the ones that i cap/crop/resize/resample for this website.
Wardialer7218 23:52, November 26, 2011 (UTC)
- For the record, I hate including images from other sites period. I have had to hold back through as the majority here seem to approve them. If I decided to be a dick, I would delete every image that wasn't 100% from the dvds or the downloads of the new episodes. But I respect the majority, and I feel that if citing the images will be enough to get away with it. Devilmanozzy (Talk Page) 00:12, November 27, 2011 (UTC)
hello there.I am MissMartianB05.I was wondering if you wanted 2 become friends?
Please tell me where do you get the screenshots from
MissMartianB05: i don't get them from anywhere. i cap/crop/resize/resample them myself. i could just as easily watermark them but i don't believe in taking credit for other ppl's work... especially on a community-driven website where hundreds of ppl contribute their time and skills to spread the thundercats gospel.
Pic's
Edit
they are fine. like you have them. they can be resized for each usage as needed. keep up the good work.Wingman1 19:54, March 25, 2012 (UTC)
the only thing i woul do is is you want to chang the main pic start a disscusion on the talk page before you change the main pic. some of the editors (and mods) can be a bit touchy about things like that.Wingman1 21:20, March 25, 2012 (UTC)
putting them in a gallery at the bottom of the page seams to be ok with most people. that might be the way to go, just so long as it's not fan-art typs pictures.Wingman1 10:47, March 26, 2012 (UTC)
Jpg vs Png file type debate
Edit
PNG does not always open in my google chrome on wikia. JPG does, offers better compression, and i believe its the way to go. 830px max width for screen caps, 225px max width for bio pics in templates. tell me what you think.
your pics at 600KB - 900KB are too big imho.
Wardialer7218 18:04, April 16, 2012 (UTC)
- PNG file format actually lasts longer and doesn't develop all that many artifacts. PNG is a file type google should be behind as it was developed as the "internet image type". I don't think you researched in comparisons between the file formats. Jpg "was" the internet standard during mid 2000's replacing Gif file format. Why I know? I was on the internet then. Been on the internet since 1996. Also, I went to art college and have a bachelor's degree in Media Arts and Animation. This debate I love having as it is interesting how things have changed over the years. But no, google chrome should be up to png's by now. I would say over half of the total images you will find in most searches are pngs. Devilmanozzy (Talk Page) 21:38, April 16, 2012 (UTC)
Some quick reads for you:
- googleproductforums-Google Chrome doesn't show PNG images?!
- Wikipedia-Image format support
- Blog: JPEG or PNG – Which Offers Better Image Quality?
- Another blog on this
- As for why the images are looking sort of washed out I'm posting, that is the actual vid I was screen capping. I don't have a good copy of the episode. Devilmanozzy (Talk Page) 22:26, April 16, 2012 (UTC)
- One issue I see with the images you recently added (which look pretty good) is the names of the files. Please don't put spaces in the file names, as that causes them to break on some wiki related apps like the slideshow. Also if the image name said something about it being the 2011 series and maybe the episode it would help. I sometimes forget to do this, but the more its done the easier it is to find images and place them. It is important if I find a image floating with no article. It happens more than I'd like to think cause noobs just remove images on galleries and add theres. Also, I wish you get a bit more of the shoulders in bio pics. Other than the space in filename issue, the rest are minor criticisms. Devilmanozzy (Talk Page) 22:38, April 16, 2012 (UTC)
Please Read License Blog (Policy changes involving Image uploading)
Edit
Please read my blog:Image Copyright Tags (Licenses). Had to start enforcing the License rules. That or face loss of images in the near future (not by me, but a wikia helper bot that auto deletes images). Devilmanozzy (Talk Page) 23:34, April 21, 2012 (UTC)
Snarf's
Edit
oh hell, all the Snarf's look alike to me. feel free to fix them as you see fit while i go get my eys's checked. lol!
thanks for letting me know about this.Wingman1 11:48, April 28, 2012 (UTC)
Wardialer7218 vs Devilmanozzy

- u just uploaded 70+ images from episode 19. not all use the nomenclature for the filename u suggested i use and have been using since. they are half the quality and 5-7x the filesize for images that i post... which is in my opinion 14x less efficient overall from a bandwidth/quality perspective.
- i can't recall where it was posted but something along the lines of 'its about the wiki, and not about the author' in the rules section.
- hypocrisy annoys me. good luck w/ everything. im out. continue to strive for mediocrity.
- well that is completey uncalled for Wardialer7218, enjoy your 3 days off, maybe more when Devilmanozzy (Talk Page) sees this.Wingman1 18:39, April 29, 2012 (UTC)
- Been debating how I'd address this. It seems my previous states Wardialer7218 spoken of were taken out of context completely. I had stated that ..... Oh let me just copy it....

- The important thing that has been neglected from that statement was the last sentence "Other than the space in filename issue, the rest are minor criticisms.". I am sure that reading it in context with the rest you can see the importance. The other issue which can also be read on my talk page deals with image quality issues. And unknown at the time a bug in wikias system. The Blog I wrote explaining the bug is here. I think it speaks for itself.
- Lastly, it appears after a few very strong words from Wardialer7218, I believe he has no interest in working with me on this project. He has made this a "I vs him" type thing. I do feel it would be in the best interests of the wiki if Wingman1 or Ralok would deal with this matter, as it is a conflict of interest for me to block Wardialer7218 from this project. This is why we have not one but three administrators here. Devilmanozzy (Talk Page) 21:02, April 29, 2012 (UTC)
